I don’t know if you have made a video about players directly not playing the game in ranked mode but I’ve seen it on my team and the opposing team where they just sit there at the base- giving up. If you have a video about that I’d like to see it. If not I’d like for you to address it since it’s become frustratingly more common. 4-10 matches I played this morning were like this. Why?? If you’re not going to play then maybe just do Turf? Or just log off idk..

Your last point was recently disproven by the now (very well) known Japanese video where they found out how it's possible to snipe someone behind a wall. It's possible because the game does movement prediction on the host, so even if you stop moving just before being exposed, the host assumes that you kept moving in that direction and you actually appear in the host's reticle despite not actually having moved there. This is then visually corrected back as soon as the host gets the next movement update, but being splatted still counts (despite being a bug). This is also the reason for janky movement when going near the edge of an elevation because the host initially assumes that you dropped down the edge even if you did not. Both happens regardless of the connection (LAN, WLAN, and couch co-op connection). So yeah, Splatoon 3's networking architecture (i.e. p2p) simply sucks and the developers came up with buggy workarounds to help with its inherent lag, which causes these kinds of inacceptible problems.

This video is definitely going to be tough to listen to for some people, even if you’re not super into competitive Splatoon, this is super sound advice for literally *everyone* on the planet who wants to be better at something. If there is an easier, faster way of doing / learning something without any major downsides, take it, it isn’t cheating! For anyone who likes art, or wants to work as an artist full time, a good portion of your time wont be used *making* art, it’ll be spent studying, looking at portfolios, finding reference materials, reaching out and forming networks. The main reason the modern art scene is so insanely diverse nowadays is that *no-one* who makes it as an artist, is doing so alone. You will make very slow progress just drawing over, and over again, beyond improving your muscle memory and learning whether you enjoy the process.

I’m shocked more people haven’t commented here after the recent events and hiatus of the creators if u know what I mean.

I dont think I ever fell into the "My gear is making me lose" mindset, but it was definitely a point of a lack of confidence in my gameplay. I felt bad that I don't have good gear and that I'm not spending enough time on the game to grind out that stuff, but this video helped me realize that its not as important as I thought it was and it's not a bad mark against my "skill" or "dedication"

I don't understand the point when you talk about Swiss and needing many setups, I mean I understand the many setups point, but that applies to any tournament format? Sure while 1v5 and 2v6 play 3,7,4,8 have to wait for them to finish to start their match and then vice versa but for example a double elimination bracket in the same setting could also only have two matches at the same time and the other players waiting for those to finish?

I think it's natural to want to jump off by default, because the assumption is that there'd be fall acceleration. By jumping before you reach the ledge, you could already be accelerating downwards by the time you've gone over the ledge. But in reality, there's not really any fall acceleration in Splatoon, so it's a great habit to break.

The most annoying strategy I see brushes do (on turf war) is run into the opposite base and start painting a bunch. It always just feels like a sub optimal play.

Tbh, the wrong play from the Luna ishre to jump back, the wrong play from the Inkbrush is to jushtre shrite there in srewpawn defending. To makre an analogy with OoT (at leashtre i think that was the game?) speedrunning, there ishre a shtreate involvingrkrtrerdzszhlkjrtreghrtrdzszh RNG, and ON AVERAGE, ud do thishre shtreate until it worked, but, shrince itshre RNG, it could caushre you to have to do it over and over again, even when youre behind on time, shreimply because the odds of it working are more favorable for you than against you, including the potential time-save, in other wordshklrtrerdzszh, ashre the luna player, id rather commit to the play, cuzreh, eventrtyueally, the other guyshre gotta realize what were doing, and grem also jumped in to askhre for a jump, and then the jump eventrueaylly came and worked out pretty fine, HOWEVER ill add, that if the Slosher was actyually chrecking properly (smhtrehing that the Luna couldnt posshiblrey have other known), i if i washre as the luna, i wouldhve tried splatting him, while prainting their bashre and then hide somewhere elshre to get more value from the play, cuz the optreimal way here for the enemy tream washre to jushtre go back and chreck for the luna (properly) meaning that the luna optimal play turns into committing to the play since, well, if that washntre the optimal play for luna, the team wouldnt have bothered going back to chreck it lol. I dunno what it is but I’ve gotten above 2000XP and now I’ve been getting sometimes top players in my lobby who will give up like two minutes into the game and sabotage the match. It’s not even a one time thing, it keeps happening, and then afterward I see their banner and it has a top 250 badge and I’m like ??? How, and, Tf is wrong with these people 🤣

I recently watched a Japanese person do a analysis of the delay that the other person sees, and they had one person as a charger, tested with and without Ethernet, etc. the game is constantly estimating where you are. A clear example is when someone is at the edge of a ledge and sometimes you see them fall off but then they’re back on the top a frame later; the game is guessing whether you’ll actually be jumping down or not. So I understand Gem’s point here, but respectfully, as someone who’s been playing since the first game, sometimes you literally do get shot through a wall. I will be well away from any place the charger can see me for a solid second and still die. It’s just how the game and its terrible connection works. Anyone who played it on WiiU knows how much worse it was then.

Competitive players ARE playing Turf War these days. That's why it's hard for non-competitive players; those that just want to have a good time without getting sweaty, to play the mode without getting spawn-camped or totally curb-stomped. Splat 3 is honestly hard to play anymore without getting wrecked by the sweaty players in nearly every match.

So I was trying to defend the zone, and push my teammates to go to enemy base, but no matter what I did, they remained unnaturally static and stuck at home base. Is there a way I can push my team besides preasing "this way"?
